New website for RE-1

Updated site aims to improve communication with parents
The Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 has a new website, which staff say will be more user-friendly.

The Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 has a new website, which staff members say is more user-friendly.

The updated site, in the works for several months, aims to improve communication with parents, according to Carol Mehesy, director of school improvement and grants.

According to feedback obtained by the district, the previous site posed some difficulties in accessing information.

“It does have a lot of valuable information on it, but it’s not always intuitive,” Mehesy said at the May 21 board meeting.

The updated site also incorporates the district’s new logo, which features the Sleeping Ute Mountain and the tagline “Every Student. Every Day.”

The website has tabs for different constituents, directing them to appropriate services, documents, departments, and schools.

“We really tried to identify with different user groups, what are the key reasons that you would come to our website,” Mehesy said. One new feature is an online student registration link.

According to Superintendent Lori Haukeness, the next step will be to build out specific school websites.
