FOR Club at Bayfield High School will once again be hosting a prom dress giveaway.
A large selection of dresses and suits are available, and they are free of charge.
The giveaway is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, at the Pine River Public Library.
The Bayfield Lions Club Foundation is holding its annual banquet on Saturday, March 24, at the club.
This is the only fundraiser for the year for the foundation, which maintains the Lions Club hall for the club and public use. Proceeds also will be used for local scholarships.
Prime rib dinner with complimentary wine and beer is $25 per person. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is at 6, with live and silent auctions. Tickets are limited and should be ordered in advance by calling Ken Gaherty at 884-2054 or Dennis Baxter at 259-1595.
Bayfield Parks and Recreation is organizing youth soccer for ages 3 years through eighth grade, with matches from April 21 through May 19.
Registration is $35 per player and due on Friday, March 23, at Bayfield Town Hall.

La Plata Conservation District recently opened its 2018-19 scholarship program for high school seniors attending college in the fall and currently enrolled college students.
The program appoints $1,500 scholarships to two qualifying students. To be eligible, applicants are required to have declared a major in environmental science, biology or another conservation-related major.

The deadline to submit applications is 5 p.m. April 6.

The monthly Pine River Shares community potluck will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pine River Senior Center in Bayfield.
All are welcome.
Participants are invited to bring a side dish that will go with corned beef and cabbage, or dessert if they can.
The senior center is south of Joe Stephenson Park near the rodeo grounds, with access from South Street.

The Durango chapter of The Well Armed Woman, a nonprofit that allows local women to meet, practice and learn about shooting firearms, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, in the indoor range at Durango Gun Club, 580 Florida Road.
Ammunition will be discussed this month, including basic properties, types and the meaning of grains. Special targets will be set up at the meeting for St. Patrick's Day.
Nonmembers are welcome to attend one meeting without joining, though the shooting range is for members only.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife museum volunteer group announced that cedar bluebird boxes are available for $30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Parks and Wildlife service center, 151 E. 16th St.
Proceeds will help volunteers maintain the CPW visitor center.

Colorado State University Extension, in partnership with Four Corners Farmer Rancher Coalition and National Young Farmers Coalition, will hold a screening of the documentary, "Farmers for America" from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
The documentary examines the life of the young farmer and follows their successes and challenges as they pursue their dreams.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking people interested in volunteering as hunter education instructors.
Volunteer instructors connect with young or inexperienced hunters. To qualify, applicants must be 18 years old or older, have a hunter education card, undergo a background check and attend an interview.
Accepted applicants are expected to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year.
Traditional hunting classes require 10 hours in the classroom, a written exam and live-fire exercise.
Application deadline is April 1. A class for instructors will be held in the spring.

Colorado State University Extension will host a workshop about drought management in Southwest Colorado from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
In response to a dry winter that brought about half of the normal snowpack to the area, the workshop will discuss how to prepare for possible drought conditions during spring and summer, with topics including drought management for livestock, agriculture, home landscapes and forested areas. A presentation about effective irrigation will also be given.
The event is open to all.
