Church hosting Vacation Bible School

Calvary Presbyterian Church will host "Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus." The week of June 11-15 will be filled with fun, games, Bible stories, imagination station, videos, fun, and sea worthy snacks.

Vacation Bible School will meet every day from 8:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Kids from 4 years of age can come and there is no upper limit on age. Older kids are crew leaders, games and other station leaders and helpers.

Pre-registration is available at https://vbspro.events/p/calvarypres, or starting at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, June 11.

Participants will collect spare change for World Vision to buy garden seeds for families in Haiti. The church is located at 89 E. Mill St. in downtown Bayfield. For more information, call 884-4331.

Library friends holding book, bake sale

The Friends of the Pine River Library District have been saving up the cream of the crop from their donated books just for Yard Sale day! The Friends will hold their annual Spring Book and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2 in conjunction with Bayfield Yard Sale Day. There will also be delicious baked treats for sale and a silent auction of donated goods, with all proceeds supporting the library.

Ignacio library offers free legal clinic

A free legal clinic for those without an attorney will be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. June 8 at Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave.

Volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help with forms and explain the process of civil litigation, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims, veterans issues and civil protection orders.

Library calling for local artists for show

Local artists of all ages and all mediums are invited to submit samples of their work to be considered for inclusion in the Pine River Library Fall Community Art Show, which will run from October to December. Artists can submit two to three pieces for consideration by for the library art committee. Images of the pieces can be emailed to darcy@prlibrary.org or artists can also call the library to arrange an appointment to bring in samples. Two-dimensional pieces must be framed or professionally mounted, and there is limited space available for 3D pieces as well. Applications are available at the front desk of the library and are due July 30.

Wolfwood visiting Pagosa Brewing

Wolfwood Refuge will bring ambassador wolves to Pagosa Brewing & Grill from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday June 9. An educational talk will be offered at 1:30 pm. This is a free family event. A Wolfwood/Pagosa Brewing glass with beer or soft drink is available for $10.
