Pine River Library will host Jams and Jellies 101 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 with Wendy Rice from the La Plata County Extension Office. This hands-on workshop is for beginners or anyone in need of a refresher. There will be recipes, resources, and samples.

Pine River Library is pleased to announce their new art showing of the work of Bayfield photographer Fred Greeley. Originally from New England, Greeley moved to Durango in 2015 to pursue photography and shoot the natural beauty specific to the four corners area. Greeley is drawn to wildflowers, mountains, rivers, desert canyons, and wildlife refuges.
His photographs will be on display at the library through the end of September, with an artist reception with refreshments scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24. For information, contact the library at 884-2222 ext. 510.
Good nutrition for mothers-to-be is essential for growth and development of babies in the womb.
Eating during pregnancy affects fetal growth; organ development and functioning; resistance to infection and disease; and the ability to repair bodily damage or injury. While pregnancy is a normal process for the female body, it is stressful, and causes changes in nutritional needs. Women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant are invited to join Mercy Regional Medical Center's registered dietitians to learn how to manage a healthy diet before and during pregnancy.

Riverview Christian Fellowship will host "Unchained," a concert of contemporary Christian music, at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Bayfield Performing Arts Center. Rick Williams and Ted Hockenbury are the headline performers and will be joined by other local artists. After the concert, a worship service will start at 7 p.m.
Commissioner Gwen Lachelt will hold her monthly open office hours from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 24 at the Smiley Cafe, 1309 E. Third Ave. in Durango. Lachelt urges all residents to take advantage of the central location and lunch hours to visit with her about issues facing La Plata County and our region.

The Pine River Library is hosting an outdoor showing of enjoy the hit Disney musical Moana on Friday, July 28. The film tells the story of Moana, the daughter of a Polynesian chief, and her adventure sailing for Maui to save her people. The movie starts at sunset and will still be shown inside in case of inclement weather. There will be free popcorn and also candy for sale to benefit the Friends of the Library at each event. Viewers can bring chairs or blankets.
The Ignacio Future Farmers of America will host a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 30 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.
Breakfast is $7 for adults and $5 for kids. Proceeds benefit the Ignacio FFA.
Tickets are now available for the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen's Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. The Cook-Off will be held on July 29, under the grove of trees, south of the La Plata County Fairgrounds. The tickets can be purchased at the Valley Feed and Ranch Supply in Gem Village or at Basin Co-op south of Durango. The menu includes meat, potatoes, beans, fresh baked bread and a dessert. Guests will receive a helping of each food category and the tickets are only $20 including a drink. Dinner starts at 5 p.m.
The Fiesta Arts Fair, Farmer's Market and Rummage Sale will take place from 9 am. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 at the ELHI Community Center.
