It's summer reading time at Pine River Library! There will be a kickoff event and sign up party in the library park from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 22 with a free BBQ dinner and outdoor fun. Next Friday, June 29, the library will show the 2016 animated musical Moana. The film starts at sunset and will still be shown inside in case of inclement weather. There will be free movie theater popcorn from Allen Theaters, and singing along is encouraged. Viewers can bring a blanket or chair and enjoy a night at the movies under the stars!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency is accepting nominations from farmers and ranchers for candidates to serve on county committees.
Producers serve on committees and provide input related to disaster, conservation, emergencies, commodity price loan support, county office employment and other agricultural issues to the FSA. Committee members serve three-year terms and producers can nominate themselves or others.
To be eligible to serve on an FSA county committee, producers must participate or cooperate in an FSA program and live in the area where the election will be held. Producers are required to sign an FSA-669A nomination form to be considered.
Forms for the 2018 election must be postmarked or received by Aug. 1. Election ballots will be mailed to eligible voters starting Nov. 5.

Ignacio Community Library continues its summer musical movies at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with the classic Singin' in the Rain.
The summer reading program continues at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27 with a performance by La Plata County Independent Youth Preforming Arts in the ELHI Gym.
The family movie of the week is Leap at 2 p.m. Thursday June 28. The library opens at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29 for a monthly staff meeting.

Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County is recruiting volunteers to provide general support, and its board is seeking local residents with expertise in real estate, retail, legal affairs and fundraising.

Shaw Solar and Durango Chamber of Commerce will present a Lunch and Learn event about the economics of solar power from noon to 1 p.m. June 27 at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.
Participants are asked to bring an electric bill to help learn about how solar energy can save money.
Cost is $13 for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Hot Tomatoes Catering will provide lunch.

Durango Arts Center and Colorado Clay are seeking ceramic bowl-makers in the community who want to create two bowls, one to donate and one to keep, for free.
One bowl per participant will be donated to the Durango Arts Center Pozole Parade fundraiser during the Festival de los Muertos in November.

Durango Arts Center is seeking Four Corners plein air artists to submit work for an exhibit, to be held Aug. 3 through Sept. 1.
Artists must be residents of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona or Utah to qualify. Awards and cash prizes include: best in show, $350; second place, $200; and third place, $100.
Submission deadline is Sunday.
