The Great Decisions discussion group will focus on the future of Europe from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Durango Public Library. All are welcome at no charge. Retired military officer, mechanical engineer, and airline pilot Eric Nedergaard will moderate. He also has an MBA degree and a doctorate in history.

The new year is the perfect time to clean up beauty routines and remove harsh chemicals from face and body products. Pine River Library is offering a DIY Beauty Class from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Participants will go home with a facial toner, deodorant, and scrub and the know-how to make these products and more in the future. There is a $10 materials fee for this class and pre-registration is required.

State Rep. Barbara McLachlan will host a town hall from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Pagosa Baking. The newly elected representative is holding a listening tour throughout her district. All are welcome. The bakery is located at 238 Pagosa St.
La Plata County Independent Youth Performing Arts is selling fresh Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts for pick-up on Friday, Feb. 3. The cost is $10 per dozen and doughnuts can be picked up at SunUte Community Center in Ignacio, El Rancho Tavern in Durango, Pine River Library in Bayfield, or delivery is available for orders of 10 dozen or more. Orders can be posted on the Krispy Kreme Day 2017 page on facebook, or call or text Sharon at 903-4294. Proceeds support the group's winterguard, dance and music programs.
Bayfield Parks and Recreation will have youth volleyball for fourth through eighth graders on Feb. 25 through April 8. Cost is $35 per player, and registration forms are due Feb. 3 at Bayfield Town Hall. For more information, call 884-9544.
