The annual Allison, Arboles and Tiffany reunion will be held at 12:30 Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Allison Grange Hall. Please bring a dish for a potluck. Plates and drinks will be provided.
The Carmelitas of St. Peter-St. Rosa Catholic Church, 18851 Hwy 151, Arboles, CO 81121 are having a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10 in the church parking lot. Please, no early birds.
The proceeds from the yard sale will help the small congregation pay church expenses. St Peter-St. Rosa Church was built in 1978 merging the Rosa and Arboleschurches when the two original churches were torn down to make room for Navajo Reservoir. The Bayfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host a lunch and learn presentation at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Pine River Library for a presentation about Amendment 69, the ballot issue to create a single payer health care system in Colorado. Guest speakers will be Terri Will, Dr. Bill Plested and Mary Hunt.

The Animas Museum will host a lecture given by local author Shelley Walchak. She will discuss her book 52 Rivers: A Woman's Fly-Fishing Journey. The lecture is at 2 p.m. on Sept. 10. The La Plata County Democrats annual picnic potluck will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Edgemont Ranch Picnic Grounds, entrance at the north end of County Road 234 just south of the CR 240 intersection or from CR 240 just east of the Edgemont Ranch subdivision entrance.
There will be local candidates and Sunnyside ribs, and a pie auction. Participants with last names A-M should bring a dessert; N-Z should bring a salad or side dish. The cost is $20 per person, $10 for students, children 12 and under are free.

Yes for Roads and Bridges, a citizens' group supporting the county road and bridge tax increase request, is holding two public forums to discuss the upcoming ballot question. The forums are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Pine River Public Library in Bayfield and Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the Durango Library.
