Barbecue, Stillwater Sunday at library

Pine River Library will host a musical barbecue from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29 in the library park. Music will be provided by adult bands from Stillwater Music, with a special performance from the Stillwater Telluride All Stars project, a student-faculty group that will be featured on the main stage of the Telluride Jazz Festival in August. Concert goers are welcome to hit the dance floor or can enjoy a beverage and food while listening to a variety of styles, including funk, rock, blues and jazz. Lunch is free, with beer and wine available for purchase. Chairs and blankets are welcome.

Tickets on sale for LePlatt's Pond event

Young Professionals of Durango and the Durango Chamber of Commerce will host its fourth annual networking event, Light up LePlatt's, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9.

Area chamber members and the public are invited.

The event brings together the Durango, Bayfield, Vallecito, Pagosa Springs, Cortez, Aztec, Ignacio and Farmington Chamber members and non-chamber members. YPOD hosts the event to raise awareness about the local chambers, encourage involvement through membership, and bring communities together to build relationships.

Dress is business casual, and tickets are $15 each, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Ed Morlan Memorial Scholarship Fund. Bounty for the Belly will provide the evening's catering.

Ignacio library hosting Native Voice Exhibit

Ignacio Community Library is hosting a new exhibit, Native Voices.

An opening party for the exhibit is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. There will be a drum circle, games, food and other activities.

Tickets still available for Cook-Off

Tickets are available at Basin Co-Op for the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen's Chuck Wagon Cook-Off .

The Cook-Off will be held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 28. Five wagons will be competing to make the best food in each category, as well as for having the most authentic wagon. Tickets are $20 for a plate consisting of beef, potatoes, beans, fresh bread, dessert, and a beverage. They're available today and tomorrow morning at Basin Co-op.

Proceeds go the Cattlemen's scholarship fund. For more information call Barbara at 247-2816.

Library hosting Grushkin concert

Local pianist Jonah Grushkin will play a unique mix of piano jazz, honky tonk, ragtime, and rock and roll from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1 in the park at the Pine River Library in Bayfield. Chairs and blankets are welcome. Grushkin's latest CD, Gemini, was released in 2017.

Library hosting water safety program

Josh the Otter will visit Ignacio Community Library at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Josh is the mascot of a nationally recognized drowning prevention and water safety program presented by SunUte Community Center.

Children will receive a Josh the Otter book, coloring book, swim passes to SunUte and a greater appreciation for water safety.

Parents, grandparents and caregivers can gain understanding of how their actions effect drowning prevention and water safety. For more information, call the library at 563-9287.

Ignacio library hosting yard sale tomorrow

Ignacio Community Library will host a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Booths are still available for $5 to set up a table up in the parking lot too. Call (970) 563-9287 to reserve a spot.
