Group starting for survivors of suicide

A suicide survivor support group is starting Wednesday in Bayfield.

Psychotherapist Nicole Fuller will facilitate the group, which will discuss the managing the trauma of losing a loved one to suicide. The group will discuss survivor guilt, the cycle of grief and how to cope with loss. Meetings are from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Fuller's office at 1327 Bayfield Parkway. The cost is $25 per meeting. Bayfield chamber to meet at library

The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Pine River Library. Terri Will of the Associates Group and members of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors will present information on 529 savings plans.

Advance care planning to be discussed

An important presentation for every adult age 18 will be held from 5:300 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20. This is a free event coordinated by the Community Health Action Coalition about Advance Care Planning. ACP is the process of expressing and documenting wishes for future healthcare decisions. Medical durable power of attorney and living will forms will be covered. Dr. John Boyd will discuss why everyone needs to complete them; considerations for end-of-life care; how to talk with loved ones; putting it all in writing; and what to do with the documents.

Meditation group offered

A mindfulness meditation group is being offered from 4 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday, with the first class meeting Sept. 19.

Meditation is the art of focusing all attention in one area. The practice has well-publicized health benefits, including increased concentration, decreased anxiety, and a general feeling of happiness. This class is designed for those who desire to strengthen their meditation practice and form a sitting community. Sitting practice instructions will be given at the beginning of each class, and then the remainder of the class is quiet and unguided.
