What are hopes and concerns for your community and the country? What core values do Americans fundamentally agree on?
The Pine River Library will host a facilitated discussion on the topic "United or Divided?" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1. Political and philosophical differences are normal in a healthy and free society. No citizen should be expected to violate his or her own conscience or compromise sacred principles.
The discussion of this topic will be guided by The Living Room Conversation model, which brings together a small group of people to get to know one another in a more meaningful way. Guided by a simple and sociable format, participants practice being open and curious about all perspectives, with a focus on learning from one another, rather than trying to debate the topic at hand. For more information contact the library at 884-2222, ext. 510.
Ignacio Community Library is hosting fun Halloween movies from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. Movies to be shown include "Hocus Pocus," "The Addams Family," "Goosebumps," and "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed." At 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, "Hotel Transylvania" will be shown. For more information, call 563-9287.
Simple yoga poses and mindfulness techniques can improve performance on the slopes this winter at Pine River Library. Instructor Colleen Theobold will teach this four-week class, which runs from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Nov. 7 through Dec. 5 except Nov. 21. Participants will learn ways to prevent injuries, even out any muscle imbalances, improve strength, and soften areas of tightness. There will be different techniques each week, so attending all four classes is recommended but not required. Prior yoga experience is not necessary.
For more information or to register call the library at 884-2222, ext. 510.
