Living Well and Raw Synergy in downtown Bayfield will host the November meeting for the Bayfield Area Chamber of Commerce. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 115 W. Mill St. Chamber volunteers also will host a ribbon cutting for the new business. Living Well and Raw Synergy provide bodywork, coaching, yoga and food for a healthy body, mind and spirit.
The Club - La Plata County Democrats on the Move will offer a showing of the film "The Case of the Stolen Election" from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 15 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The film follows investigative journalist Greg Palast, who reveals Crosscheck, the system designed to purge 1.1 million U.S. citizens from the voter rolls.

Downtown dispensary Santé Alternative Wellness started a canned-food drive Friday for Durango Food Bank, with a goal to collect 500 donations by Christmas.
All non-perishable canned-food items can be dropped off at the dispensary, 742½ Main Ave.
Tracy Robinette volunteered to pick up items from people who are unable to drop them off themselves.

The Colorado AmeriCorps Community Opioid Response Program is accepting applications for 2017-18 service positions.
Accepted applicants will facilitate provider-education; offer education about safe storage and disposal of medications; provide youth-focused resources; and propagate opioid-related community campaigns and collaborations. Southwest Colorado positions are available in Durango, Telluride, Ouray, Montrose and Grand Junction.
The program is a statewide initiative that provides community support and strategies to reduce the impact of opioid abuse.

La Plata County Historical Society will offer a presentation called "No Return from Over There" by Robert McDaniel at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Ave.
McDaniel will explore the lives of Jose Trujillo and Wiley Sheets, two soldiers from La Plata County who were killed during World War I. The Durango American Legion, chartered in 1919, is named after the veterans.

The kickoff for the Snowdown beard-growing competition, a three month "beard race" from Nov. 10 to Feb. 1, will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, at Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave.
Contestants should arrive with facial hair freshly shaved to have their "before" head shot taken. A panel of judges will select a winner Feb. 1 during Snowdown festivities. Judges will also award prizes for best color, longest beard and best beer-absorption beard for men, and best leg hair for women.
The competition is free, and open to those 21 and older.
