The NFL respects the flag and what it stands for, but if the NFL truly respected the flag/anthem, then the following should be its policy concerning players who kneel during the national anthem: “The NFL does not feel that those players who kneel during the national anthem are disrespecting the flag since they are protesting a principle that the flag stands for that is not being realized by all people of color – That all Americans are created equal and should be treated so. The principle is bigger and more important to the country than is the NFL, therefore the league will not interfere with those players who wish to protest in this manner. It is those people who disregard this principle that are disrespecting the flag.
