Nine active COVID-19 outbreaks were listed in La Plata County this week, according to data released Wednesday by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Most of the outbreaks are at schools and child care facilities.
The nine outbreaks involve a total of 86 cases and no deaths.
Currently, COVID-19 vaccinations are available to anyone 16 and older.
The biggest outbreak with 31 total cases is listed at Durango High School. The outbreak is listed as first reported to public health authorities on Feb. 25.
The second biggest outbreak with 16 cases is at Bayfield High School. The outbreak is listed as first being reported to public health authorities on Dec. 23.
The most recent outbreak reported to public health authorities came on April 22, when an outbreak was reported at the Strater Hotel. It involves five cases.
On April 13, an outbreak was reported at Southwest Eye Consultants involving four cases.
Other outbreaks reported this month included a social gathering reported April 6 involving 10 cases and an outbreak at Riverhouse Children’s Center on April 9 involving two cases.
Other outbreaks considered current by CDPHE involve the Fort Lewis College football team, involving nine cases; Needham Elementary School, involving seven cases; and Durango North Head Start, involving two cases.
