Recently, The Durango Herald has printed several letters to the editor highly critical of the proposed RV park on Trimble Lane. Can’t help but wonder how long the letter writers have actually lived in the area.
Have they ever done a traffic count between Memorial Day and Labor Day at the intersection of County Road 250 and Trimble Lane, when the Bar D Chuckwagon is operating? Have they lived in Dalton Ranch or on County Road 250, when two gravel pits and a couple of batch plants were operating from dawn to dusk on Trimble Lane with nonstop dump truck traffic Monday through Friday?
Wonder how many times letter writers had to slam on their brakes when a bicycle group ride blew through the stop sign at CR 250 and Trimble Lane? And the 51 homes slated for the new Dalton West subdivision on Trimble Lane are OK when it comes to the traffic count?
There are currently four RV parks between the north city limits and the intersection of CR 250 and Highway 550. Letter writers would have you believe that there will be 300 motor homes backed up to Highway 550 on Trimble and beyond every day, all day. Not going to happen.
The only alternative use for that riverfront property I would support – besides an RV park – would be a tiny home village or a mobile home park.
