No commutations for Muslims in Gaza

President Joe Biden recently commuted the death sentences of 37 murderers, including killers of police and military officers. (“Biden gives life in prison to 37 of 40 federal death row inmates (Associated Press, Dec. 23).

What about the 20,000 or so women and children Biden carried out the death penalty against in Gaza? What were their dastardly crimes? Holding children’s hands in marketplaces? Feeding families? Going to school? Breathing while Muslim?

One article discusses the diminishing use of the death penalty in America and mentions “evolving standards of decency” in a “maturing society.” (“The long decline of the American death penalty, explained” (Vox, Dec. 23).

Looks to me like one of those new “standards of decency” is simply, “We reserve the right to kill Muslims and save murderers because we are Democrats.”
