Bayfield and Ignacio have enough town board candidates to fill open seats in the April election, but no more than that. Candidate petitions were due by 5 p.m. on Jan. 25.

Bayfield Town Manager Chris La May said petitions were turned in and signatures validated for incumbent trustee Matt Salka running unopposed for mayor; and Kristin Dallison and incumbents Rachel Davenport and Matt Nyberg running for three board seats.

La May said it will be up to the town board whether to cancel the election.

Ignacio Town Clerk Georgann Valdez said their only petitions were filed by three board incumbents: Edward Box III, Sandra Maez, and Alison deKay. The election will be cancelled unless someone files an affidavit to run as a write-in candidate, Valdez said. March 15 is the deadline to file that.
