A citizen-initiated movement, styled “No Secret Police in Durango” is proposing a new Durango ordinance requiring all law enforcement officers to wear visible identification and prohibiting them from masking their faces. Petitioners are collecting signatures from registered Durango voters through March 6.
Once enough signatures are gathered, Durango City Council will be forced to either adopt the ordinance as written, or call for a special election of the people on the matter.
