No sign of Trump’s button can be seen

Kim Jong-un has a button. It’s right there on his desk, handy for immediate pressing. He furthermore has suggested that once pressed, that button will launch America’s final chapter, doing in our Congressional representatives, male and female, along with all the rest of us.

That is one incredible button, and frankly it had me worried sick until Trump announced that he, too, has a button. His button is bigger he tells us, and is right there on his desk.

I have watched Mr. Trump’s innumerable executive order signings producing proclamations that have done away with so much of what makes America a progressive light for the rest of the world.

That is not a complaint, of course, because I’m certain that as soon as all of the Dreamers are gone, when there are no more Muslims on the streets of our country, the wall is up and working, our national monuments are finally out of the way of corporate development, the oceans East and West are being drilled and the Alaska Refuge is dotted with pumping stations, America will be great again.

No, my concern is that throughout this grand legislative flurry I have not once seen that button on his desk. My concern is that Kim Jong-un has a button and we do not. Without that American button on the president’s desk, we are lost.

America may never be great again, and in fact, America may never be again.
