‘Noise from whistle amplified’

I noticed since you (barely) printed my letter about the loud train whistle, you continue to print pro-train and pro-train whistle letters like the one saying “only a handful of Durango residents dislike the noise” or something along those lines. I’ve been here nearly two decades and yes (wait for it!) the train was here when I moved here. But the noise from the whistle has totally amplified in recent years and, in my opinion, is (seemingly purposefully) annoying for hundreds if not thousands of residents. Just like the motorcycle noise.

But the tourists come first always, don’t they Durango tourism board? Those of us who enjoy and struggle sometimes through year-round conditions have their needs often or mostly overshadowed by those who supposedly make money off said tourists. Is every tourist town so lopsided? I doubt it. Please, in the future, consider us residents for a change. A lot of what we long for is simple peace and quiet out on our decks during dinner time. Is that too much to ask?
