I am an unaffiliated voter because I cannot support the ideologies of either party, Democrat or Republican. I’m fiscally conservative, yet socially progressive.
Dave McHenry has my support because his platform most closely matches what I value. He is a trustworthy moderate in a community that appears to be growing increasingly polarized every year.
You’d think that after the national debacle we had in November that we’d all be sensitive to the damage a political party can do when it dodges the rules. What’s going on in Durango? A sub rosa effort to politicize a non-partisan race.
The next time you drive by an election sign forest erected in a front yard near you, connect the dots. The folks canvassing, bundling and delivering signs for group-think are likely the same crew recruiting callers for an 11th-hour telephone marathon to get out the vote for the “progressive three.”
If you think it is time to inject some balance in your city government, look to Eskew and McHenry. Both have what it takes to do a good job.
We are facing increasing numbers of homeless transients, a critical housing shortage, failing infrastructure and a shrinking bank account. Is the only answer raising taxes and increasing the burden on the working class?
We need people who aren’t afraid to ask questions when things aren’t working.
