Family Pottery Class: “Handbuilt Turkeys,” Friday, Nov. 3, 1:30-3 p.m.: Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center will host two family pottery classes at the library this holiday season. November's class will make turkey figurines. Space is limited, so sign-up is required, with $5/person class fees due upon registration.

Hopper’s Storytime: Thursdays 11-11:30 a.m. Read books, meet new friends and make a craft.

STEAM Power Hour (Grades 3-5): Mondays, 4-5 p.m.

Junior STEAM Power Hour (Grades K-2): Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m.

Teens

Teen Free Play: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5 p.m. Tabletop games, PlayStation, Oculus, food and fun.

Teen Tabletop Club: Monthly on the first Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tabletop gaming session. Magic, D&D, Cthulhu and more.

Weekly Programs

Full Body Fit Class: Monday-Thursday, 8:15-8:50 a.m. Work out using your own body weight or light hand weights to work all of the body parts. The free classes are similar in style but always different moves. You’ll need a yoga mat and light hand weights. If you don’t have them, there are extras. All ages and fitness levels.

Yoga For All: Tuesdays 9-10 a.m. and 6-7 p.m. Thursdays, 9-10 a.m.: Need a yoga mat and a water bottle. Some yoga tools such as blocks, a blanket and a strap are encouraged.

Friends of the Library Shed Book Sale: Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m.: Weekly pop-up book sale.

Open Art Studio: Thursdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: All mediums. All ages. Work on projects in a group setting.

Community Knitting and Crochet Group: Sundays, 2-4 p.m.: All are welcome. Whether you have been knitting and/or crocheting for years or would like to learn.

Adult Programs

Nov. 1, 10 a.m.: Delayed Library Opening, Due to monthly staff meeting.

Nov. 2, 6 p.m.: Livestream of The Colorado Sun’s “Medicare Choices” Program: The library will stream this informative session in the Community Room.

Nov. 3, 4-5:30 p.m.: Mahjong Meetup: Mahjong is a tile-based tabletop game developed in 19th century China. Similar to the Western card game rummy, mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and luck. It is entertaining to play and, like dominoes, is relatively easy to learn. All are welcome.

Nov. 6, 6-8 p.m.: Typeset Writer’s Group: Each month, a member of the group will bring an article for discussion. Participants also have the option to bring two pages of their own writing to read aloud, but it’s not required. If you’d like to read your own writing, bring it in manuscript format.

Nov. 8, 2-3:30 p.m.: BookMarks Book Club: Open to all adults in the Pine River Valley. The library provides the books, the discussion leader and a place to meet each month. Stop by the front desk to check out your copy of this month’s title: “Apples Never Fall,” by Liane Moriarty.

Nov. 10: Library closed for Veteran’s Day holiday.

Nov. 14, 10-11 a.m.: Card Making at the Pine River Senior Center: Join us at the Pine River Senior Center every second Tuesday of the month and create two beautiful handmade cards. Free.

Nov. 14, 1-2:30 p.m.: Death Café: A time and place where people come to share food, drink tea or coffee, and discuss death openly and honestly. The aim is to increase awareness about death in order to help people make the most of their (finite) lives.

Nov. 15, noon-1 p.m.: Cookbook Club: Each month on the third Wednesday at noon we’ll gather together and share a potluck of recipes from a chosen cookbook, chef or cuisine. In November, we’ll be cooking Mexican recipes from cookbooks of our own choice. Check one out from the assortment of Mexican food cookbooks on display at the library. Nov. 15, 6 p.m.: Draft 2024 Library Budget Hearing: The Pine River Library Board will present the draft 2024 budget, and the public is invited to comment and, depending on the election results, the Inflationary Property Tax Limit. The meeting will be held in the Community Room. Copies of the proposed budget are available at the library or on the library’s website at www.prlibrary.org/library-budget.

Nov. 15, 6:15 p.m.: Library Board Meeting: Regular monthly meeting of the library’s Board of Trustees.

Nov. 17, 4-5:30 p.m.: Mahjong Meetup: All are welcome, join us twice monthly to play.

Nov. 23 and 24: Library closed for Thanksgiving holiday.

Nov. 30, 6-8 p.m.: Wreath Decorating: Class with local artist and florist Cindy Shelton. Students will receive an 18 inch artificial wreath and have access to Shelton’s selection of ribbons, ornaments and accents. She’ll share tips and techniques on how to make a wreath without hot glue, but students are welcome to bring their own glue guns. All materials are provided. There is a $15 materials fee and preregistration and prepayment are required. Stop by the library or call 884-2222, ext. 522, to register.

Repair Café: Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.: A neighborhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out. Bring your broken items to fix them on the spot with the help of voluntary repairers.

Murder Mystery Game: Sunday, Nov. 5 at noon: There’s been a murder in Library. But who’s the murderer? Lunch at noon, live action mystery game to follow. Free program, no sign-up needed.

Holiday Craft Class: Friday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m.: Three ideas you can choose from, create and take home.

Powerhouse Pass Program, Sunnyside Library and Fort Lewis Mesa Library have Powerhouse Passes available for checkout at each library. The pass will allow you and your immediate family free entry to the Powerhouse Science Center. Passes can be checked out on an adult library card for one week.

Check Out State Parks Program, Fort Lewis and Sunnyside libraries have “Check Out State Parks” backpacks available for check out. Each pack includes a pass for free entry to Colorado state parks, binoculars, wildlife viewing guides and park information. The pack can be checked out on an adult library card for one week.
