The age-old hero’s journey is the theme of the new movies opening this week in Durango – check out Matt Damon as he travels to France to try to save his daughter in “Stillwater,” and Dev Patel as he takes a journey of a completely different kind in “The Green Knight.” And for the fam, the Rock welcomes you aboard the “Jungle Cruise.“

Stillwater

An American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma travels to Marseille, France, to visit his estranged daughter, in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit. Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences and a complicated legal system, Bill builds a new life for himself in France as he makes it his personal mission to exonerate his daughter. Rated R.

Jungle Cruise

Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, “Jungle Cruise“ is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Rated PG-13.

The Green Knight

Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men.
