Nuclear power and AI: We need new approach

After the Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear disasters, I felt surely we would not favor building more nuclear reactors, but now I see the nuclear industry touting a fleet of small nuclear (breeder) reactors to run huge data centers (that need too much energy and water). I think they will claim we need it for artificial intelligence and wait to push hard for nuclear after we are addicted.

We need a new approach. Nuclear is not clean, safe or cheap, and it remains deadly for thousands of years. It is associated with less freedom and peace because of its deadly nature. Nuclear radiation harms our genetic structure and contributes to increase of our epidemically expanding health problems.

I feel we should be strengthening our old power grid and using cleaner energies. The industry has bought and buried patents (for monetary reasons) that could be the answer. We might celebrate the beautiful potential of our humanity and begin acting in ways that protect and enhance our precious planet.
