‘Nuclear winter’ topic of next lecture

“Nuclear Winter: Historical and Current Perspectives” will be the Lifelong Learning topic of H.D. Grover at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 130, Noble Hall, at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.

In the 1980s, Grover began studying the worldwide effects of nuclear war, named “nuclear winter.” His research focused on the ecological consequences of projected global cooling because of millions of tons of soot in the atmosphere. Grover’s talk will address how our understanding of the phenomenon has evolved and how it influences current policies on the use of nuclear weapons.
