Obituaries don’t belong with classifieds

I am seconding the thoughts of Louden Kiracofe expressed in his letter to the editor (Herald, Nov. 8): It is crass, inappropriate, disrespectful, disturbing and in poor taste to see obituaries thoughtlessly boxed in as part of the commercial classified ads in the hard-copy-printed version of the paper. This new style may be expected to seriously alienate and disturb midlife and older readers, and in particular, those who read obituaries with great care and interest.

I strongly urge The Durango Herald to reconsider and discontinue this recent style change.

Nadine Marks

Durango

Editor’s note: The Herald has moved obituaries back to the paper’s A section.
