COMMERCE CITY – An investigation is underway after officers shot and killed an armed suspect in the Denver area.
Commerce City police officers were helping the Denver Police Department and the Department of Corrections track down a suspect when they encountered him in a parking lot at an apartment building just west of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge on Wednesday morning.
Police say the suspect, who was wanted for a violent crime, was armed with a handgun, and shots were fired. He was hit multiple times and died at a hospital. No officers were injured.
Investigators have not released the suspect’s name, age or any details about what led to the shooting.
