If you were bummed out when the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival was cancelled last month, here’s some happy news: it’s back.
The Western Slope 22-year-old festival features the sweetest corn you’ve ever tasted, but that wasn’t enough to keep it in the black. So city hall, which sponsors the festival, scrapped it for this year.
In stepped the Montrose Community Foundation and private supporters and the small-town, good-time event will occur Aug. 3, emphasizing the theme “back to our roots,” complete with a corn relay race and a corny joke contest.
Whatever you do, be sure to eat your share of the tiny town’s pride and joy. The festival will be held at Olathe Community Park, 1300 Park Place. For more information you can call 866-363-CORN.
