The Old Fort in Hesperus will offer a spring farmer training program to specialty crop producers.
Participants may take one, two, three or all 15 sessions beginning Feb. 14 and Feb. 15. Meetings will take place once a month on a Friday and the following Saturday morning. They will be held at Fort Lewis College in February, Mount Lookout Grange in Mancos in March and the Old Fort at Hesperus in April and May.
The new schedule allows for the addition of more hands-on activities to the training and accommodates people who aren’t available in the evenings.
A limited number of outside farmers who would benefit from this information about developing a specialty crop business at high elevation focusing on vegetables and flowers will be accepted.
Sessions are $20 each, which includes nightly handouts, or $250 for the entire series, which includes printed curriculum, supplemental books and nightly handouts.
Space is limited. To register, visit www.tinyurl.com/oldfortmarketplace.
