Driver crossed lanes into oncoming traffic
A woman traveling south in a sedan crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a U-Haul traveling north in the 2500 block of Main Avenue before spinning across the road to the entrance to the La Plata County Fairgrounds and striking a utility box. She did not suffer serious injuries.
The driver of this U-Haul was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center after being stuck by a sedan that crossed lanes into the wrong direction of travel in the 2500 block of Main Avenue on Sunday.
One woman was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center after the U-Haul she was driving northbound Sunday afternoon was struck by a woman driving south in a sedan that crossed lanes into her direction in the 2500 block of Main Avenue in Durango.
The call came about 2:30 p.m., said Brian Heaton with the Durango Police Department.
“So, the car was going the wrong way and came across and hit the back end of the truck, and it spun out,” he said.
The sedan, with Colorado plates, then crossed into the turning lanes at the La Plata County Fairground and struck a utility box. The truck had Arizona license plates.
There were several witnesses, and traffic was largely unaffected.
Both vehicles were carrying single occupants.
