One killed in crash on Wolf Creek Pass

Five vehicles involved in accident, including a motor home

Wolf Creek Pass was closed Monday evening for a five-vehicle crash that included one death, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

A 36-foot-long motor home struck four other vehicles, including one pulling a trailer, said Trooper Jeff Chmielewski. The motor home was headed downhill near mile marker 158, near the base of Wolf Creek Pass on the west side.

One person died, and a man and a woman were injured in the crash, he said.

An accident reconstructionist was on scene gathering information shortly after 6 p.m., and his work was expected to take an additional two hours, he said.

Chmielewski was uncertain when the highway might reopen.
