Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, citizens have been able to purchase health insurance without worrying about being denied coverage for preexisting conditions. This was one of the biggest positive changes to our healthcare system and has benefited millions of people.
In the next two weeks, we have the opportunity to vote for candidates who support improving the ACA and the healthcare options for all residents in Colorado. Our current U.S. House representative, Scott Tipton has a shameful record when it comes to improving healthcare for the people he represents. He voted to repeal the ACA numerous times, voted to repeal patient protections in the ACA, voted to repeal funding for our state Health Benefit exchanges and voted to get rid of the individual mandate which is necessary to keep healthcare costs down and help pay for insurance for people with preexisting conditions. And he also has refused to meet with locals to discuss healthcare issues.
It is time to vote him out of office. I am writing to encourage people to vote for candidates who are committed to maintaining and improving the ACA in our state. They include: Diane Mitsch Bush to represent Southwest Colorado in the U.S. House, Jarod Polis for governor and Guinn Unger for Colorado Senate.
