Onward! announces scholarship recipients

Onward! A Legacy Foundation, a community foundation dedicated to the philanthropic health of Southwest Colorado, has awarded educational scholarships to local students.

Nicci Crowley, Onward! deputy director, said, “This year we had a record number of applications received. Even with the March downturn in the market, we were able to support an outstanding number of students with over $69,000 going out for the 2020-21 academic year.”

The scholarship awardees are:

Bill and Peg Rees Scholarship: Adam Yoder, Mancos High School $2,000 yearly renewable scholarship; Nanabah Sam, Grand Canyon University (former Montezuma-Cortez High School graduate); Katelynn Sweat, Colorado University-Denver (former MCHS graduate); Dylan Long, University of Wyoming (former MCHS graduate) $2,000/yearly renewed scholarship.MCHS Alumni Scholarship (MCHS-specific scholarship): Casen Allmon, $1,000 nonrenewable scholarship.Leonard Cain Medical Scholarship: Taylor Hickman, Dove Creek High School; Salem Knuckles, MCHS; Taegan Allen, MCHS, $500 each nonrenewable scholarship.Hoover Endowed Medical Scholarship: Taylor Hickman, Dove Creek High School; Salem Knuckles, MCHS; $2,500 each nonrenewable scholarship.Shaun M.
