Michele Redding pauses Monday during the final push to complete renovations for Animas City Theatre. She and her husband, Chris, now own the venue that formerly was known as Abbey Theatre. After two nights of magic this week, the ACT will begin a full concert, film and events schedule Aug. 10 with a concert by Souls of Mischief.
Animas City Theatre will have a two-day reopening this week with Magic with Eli, featuring Eli Portala, 17. Shows will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday and 2 and 7 p.m. Thursday. Assisted by sisters Emma and Gabby, Eli was the youngest-ever winner of the International Brotherhood of Magicians Junior Award and the youngest (and two-time) winner of Abbot’s Magic Get-Together, the longest-running magic contest in the U.S. that claims Lance Burton and David Copperfield as past winners.
