The Colorado State Forest Service and the La Plata Conservation District are accepting applications for more than 40 varieties of low-cost seedling trees and shrubs grown at CSFS's Fort Collins nursery.
Seedlings ordered now will be distributed to La Plata County in late April.
Residents and landowners in southwest Colorado interested in planting seedlings should make sure to get their orders in to the La Plata Conservation District, http://www.laplatacd.org/, by Friday, April 6.
It is highly recommended that interested parties check the daily updated nursery inventory for available stock and container type on their website at the: "Current Tree Inventory Status" link or http://csfs.colostate.edu/seedling-tree-nursery/seedling-nursery-inventory/ as well.
The CSFS seedling tree program is designed to encourage Colorado landowners to plant seedling trees and shrubs for conservation purposes. Through a cooperative effort with Colorado State University Extension offices and county conservation districts throughout the state, approximately 5,000 Coloradans receive CSFS seedling trees each year.
The only requirement for purchasing trees through the seedling program is that the seedlings be used for conservation purposes only.
