At 7 in the morning on June 19, 1955, Oscar Dwain Perry, age 19, and Betty Joyce Hass, age 17, were married in the First Southern Baptist Church of Clovis, New Mexico. As they grew up together, their lives became forever intertwined. After spending several years exploring different towns in the Southwest and bearing three children, Mick, Jan and Darryl, they landed in the Durango area, where they have lived for more than 50 years.
Along with their three children, they also have four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
To help celebrate the milestone, Oscar wrote:
My final reflection:
Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That’s all we shall know for truth
Before we grow antediluvian and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you,
Subsequently sigh,
I LOVE YOU.
