We look forward to the results of Durango’s electric vehicle readiness plan, which is close to being delivered (“

In conjunction with the La Plata Electric Association, the plan should indicate to what degree the city can manage – and encourage – the use of electric vehicles.

Think reduced gas station usage and more plug-in charging locations. The plan should give both the city and private businesses an idea of the need for charging stations for employees and for visitors. A couple at the library and at every motel? Likely.

Electric vehicles may not yet be fully suited to the 50-mile distances combined with elevation changes among communities in the Four Corners, but we do not want to limit their arrival by not having the necessary infrastructure.
