Senior Outdoors announces the following events:
Moderate Vallecito Creek Trail hike at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Participants should bring water and lunch and expect to be back to the car in about three to four hours. Carpool costs $3, but participants can also meet at the Vallecito Campground parking lot at 9:45 a.m. Dogs are allowed and preferably on leashes and in participants’ own car.

Fly Your Kite And Take A Walk With Hills at 10 a.m. Sunday:

WW hike: Animas River Trail at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday:

2-Day Trail training to be offered
Trails 2000 has teamed up with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) to offer an training program for trail crew leadership April 16 and April 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The two-day Crew Leader Training will introduce the fundamentals of successful volunteer crew management for the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails and is open to all levels of trail experience, from beginner to long-time trail volunteer.
The training program will be taught by long-time VOC instructors, who bring many years experience in sustainable trail design and crew leadership. Attendees will learn key fundamentals of leadership and sustainable trail creation and maintenance, as well as the crucial elements to achieve successful land management and stewardship of our natural resources.
All levels of experience are welcome, from beginner to long-time volunteer, to join Trails 2000’s team as a crew leader.
Course includes classroom sessions, field exercises and role playing to introduce construction/maintenance of sustainable trails, leadership strategies and techniques, tool use, and safety. All trainees receive a Crew Leader manual, set of quick reference cards, and other materials that make for a successful leader. More information will be emailed to attendees following registration.
The classes are free to those willing to devote 6-10 hours of trailwork this season.
