San Juan Fly Fishing Spring Seminar

The San Juan Fly Fishing Federation is will present its spring “free” fly fishing seminar Saturday at the Cottonwood Campgrounds located four miles below Navajo Dam.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Various fly fishing topics will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Refreshments as well as fly fishing gear will be provided. In addition, a New Mexico State Park pass will be provided at registration for those attending the seminar.

Seniors Outdoors announces activities

Seniors Outdoors will host these activities:

Monday Bike Ride for intermediate road cyclists will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Home Depot to Bread. This is social ride from Home Depot to Bread. Meet in the south parking lot at Home Depot. Helmets are required. This is a heavy mountain bike use area. Poles are very helpful for the steep descents. Members only. No dogs. No R.S.V.P. is needed. Camp in a primitive area on the north end of the lake accessed by a 15-mile 4WD road. Activities will include hiking and exploring the area, paddling and fishing. No experience is necessary; Trails 2000 Crew Boss Larry “Reed” Myers and crew leader Bob Osward will provide all tools, gloves, instruction and safety tool talk, water and snacks. Volunteers should meet at Carbon Junction Trailhead at 9 a.m.

Durango Running Club will also offer an exclusive discounted entry to the Durango Double (Oct. 8-9, 2016), which opens for public registration on Sunday.
