Nature Studies announces programs
Durango Nature Studies will host these programs:
An Animal Signs Workshop will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Nature Center. The cost is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. Participants will learn what tracks, scat, markings and other signs can tell about different habitats and the activity within them. To register email john@durangonaturestudies.org.
A Fly Fishing Workshop will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Nature Center. The cost is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. Seniors Outdoors to host hikes, bikes
Seniors Outdoors will host these events:
Saturday a group will hike off-trail and climb Royal Tiger, Peak 13,304 and Little Giant Peak. Some scrambling will be required. A shuttle will be needed and four-wheel drive low and high clearance vehicles are necessary. Dogs are allowed. To RSVP, email Dan Honig at dhonig@animas.net.
The Monday Durango Area Bike Ride will begin at Home Depot. Helmets and gloves are required. For more information, call Jim Newman at 884-7717 or email Newmanji10@aol.com.
Monday’s hike will be Rolling Mountain using an easier option from the back side. Some scrambling should be expected. Four-wheel drive is required. To RSVP, email Bill Cagle at cagle81301@yahoo.com.
The Wednesday Wanderers hike will be above Cascade Village. Nonmembers should RSVP to Tricia Bayless at 799-4535. Dogs are allowed on a leash only.
