The Vallecito Conservation and Sporting Association (VCSA) was recently awarded a $49,000 grant on behalf of Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Fishing is Fun Review Panel.
The grant will help fund the Vallecito Reservoir Marina project, which will include installation of two dock extensions and ramps, plus expanded public angling access.
VCSA was also awarded a grant via La Plata Electric Association’s Round Up Program. The program rounds a customer’s bill up to the nearest dollar, with the extra funds going to community grants.
VCSA utilized this award for more lighting on the marina main building dock, as well as flush-mounted lighting on the slips for safety.
VCSA’s goal is relieving the burden and responsibilities of under-staffed agencies in the region, in order to improve recreation opportunities, benefit the community, and help secure local forest, wilderness, and waterbodies for future generations.
