Nordic Center opens to the public

The Nordic Center at Purgatory is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

The center is based out of a trailer in the parking lot while construction is finished on its new building.

A skate ski clinic for beginners will run at 1 p.m. Saturday. Rental skis are available at the center. The cost of the clinic is $25 for Nordic season pass holders or $30 for other skiers.

Senior Outdoors announces events

Senior Outdoors will host these activities:

The Wednesday Wanderers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Santa Rita Park to walk the Animas River Trail. RSVP is not required. Dogs must be on a leash. For more information, call Eric Pahlke at 247-1130.

John Martin will lead group snowshoeing in the mountains Saturday. An avalanche beacon and shovel will be required on most outings. Dogs are allowed. For more information on the destination, descriptions and requirements, RSVP to John Martin at 247-2581 or email jmartin@mydurango.net.

Downhill ski groups are available. For more information or to be placed on a group distribution list, email Bruce Rodman at Mtnman16@gmail.com. Meeting days and times vary according to abilities and snow conditions.
