Nature Studies to offer naturalist training
Durango Nature Studies will offer volunteer naturalist training for its Children Discovering Nature Program next week.
The training includes sessions from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 4 at Durango Public Library, 1700 East Third Ave., and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 6 and 7 at Durango Nature Center in Bondad.
Those who complete the training will become fully qualified volunteer naturalists, ready to lead science-based hikes for children in kindergarten through fifth grades on topics such as plants, animals, insects and water. Volunteers will receive a detailed manual as part of the training. Nature walks take place at the Nature Center.
No experience is necessary – just a love of nature and kids.
