McPhee boat ramp has limited access

The Dolores Ranger District reports that work to reinstall a breakwater and construct docks and mooring facilities for a new marina at McPhee Reservoir may begin in the next week and continue for up to 45 days.

As a result, there will be limited public access to the boat ramp at the McPhee Recreation Site during this time; however, one free courtesy dock will be open, and all other parking and services will remain available.

The public is asked to use caution in the construction area. A limited convenience store and fueling facilities are expected to open later this summer. The new commercial marina will have 40 slips available for rent as well as mooring facilities for long-term boat storage. Existing U.S. Forest Service docks will remain available to the public free of charge.

For more information, call Tom Rice at 882-6843.
