Seniors Outdoors announces events

Seniors Outdoors will host these events:

A snowshoe or backcountry ski will take place Tuesday on the north side of Wolf Creek Pass to Lobo Overlook. No skins are necessary for skiers. Four-wheel-drive is desirable. Dogs are not allowed. To RSVP, call Nancy Mead at 259-5978 or email nancy.a.mead@gmail.com.

For information about the Wednesday Wanderers hike on the Animas River Trail, call Eric Pahlke at 247-1130.

A moderate snowshoe hike above Little Molas Lake will take place Wednesday. Dogs are not allowed. Four-wheel-drive is needed if U.S. Highway 550 is snowy. To RSVP, call Charles Berglund at 247-9747 or email chasberglund@msn.com.

Spaghetti dinner to benefit winter sports

The Durango Winter Sports Foundation will host the 13th annual Snowdown Spaghetti Dinner on Jan. 31 at the Durango Elks Lodge ballroom, on Ninth Street a half-block between Main and East Second avenues.

All proceeds will benefit the Durango Nordic Ski Club and the Purgatory Ski and Snowboard Team.

Pre- and postparade seating are available at 4:30 or 7 p.m. Dinner will be prepared by Mutu’s Italian Kitchen and served by DWSF athletes. A cash bar will be available offering Ska beer, and live music will be provided by the Stillwater Foundation Groove Casters Band.

The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Will-call tickets can be purchased at www.durangowintersports.org/events.

Skate Ski Clinic to be held Saturday

The Nordic Center at Purgatory will host a skate ski clinic at 1 p.m. Saturday.

There will be classes for skiers of all ability levels. The cost of the clinic is $20 for Nordic Center season-pass holders or $25 for other skiers. Equipment rentals are available at the Nordic Center.
