33rd Shiprock Marathon to be held

The 33rd Shiprock Marathon will be held on May 6 and May 7 in Shiprock, New Mexico.

The events will include: Marathon, half marathon, five-person marathon relay, 10K trail race, 5K trail run, and kids’ marathon. Registration for all Shiprock Marathon events is available at www.shiprockmarathon.com. Participants will receive full course support during the run, a race shirt, finish-line food, event poster, entertainment, age-group awards and official chip timing on the USATF-certified course.

A Health & Wellness Expo, 5K & 10K and Kids Marathon will take place on May 6 at the Shiprock Youth Center. The marathon, half marathon and marathon relay will occur on May 7.

Seniors Outdoors announces events:

The semi-annual highway clean up will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday. The group will clean up two stretches of U.S. Highway 550. Coffee and donuts will be served in the parking area across from the Hermosa Conoco station. The cost to carpool is $1. Dogs are not allowed. This is a social ride from Home Depot to Bread. Participants will meet in the south parking lot at Home Depot. Helmets are required. Dogs will be allowed, but the trail is difficult if not impossible for small dogs. Participants will ride several challenging single-track loops on a trail system near Cortez. Must have a mountain bike with suspension and strong riding skills. People should bring a lunch.
