Construction continues at Whitewater Park

The city of Durango announces that the construction of the in-stream features at the Whitewater Park is scheduled to continue until April 15.

This section of the Animas River is closed to boating until all construction equipment is out of the river. After completion of the in-stream work, construction will continue along the bank of the Animas River for shoreline improvements including the development of the Animas River Trail and park amenities. It is anticipated that the park improvements will be completed at Whitewater Park at the end of this year.

The development of the Animas River Trail through Memorial Park continues this spring. It is anticipated that the river access at 29th Street will be closed to the public until May 1. There also is no parking in the lot at East Third Avenue and 29th Street as this location is being utilized as a construction staging area. There will be intermittent road closures on 32nd Street. During the construction of the improved pedestrian access at East Third Avenue and 31st Street, East Third Avenue adjacent to Memorial Park will be closed and traffic will be rerouted to East Fourth Avenue.
