Nature Studies announces events
Durango Nature Studies will host these events:
A bird walk will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at For the Birds, 1560 East Second Ave. DNS hosts a bird walk along the Animas River Trail every third Wednesday of the month.
The Earth Day 5K and Family Fun Run Celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at For the Birds and Rotary Park. The cost is $15 in advance or $20 on race day, which includes a T-shirt. The cost for the 1-mile fun run is $10 per family.
The event will feature music by Flume Canyon Boys, beer from Wagonwheel Liquors and pizza from Homeslice from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A full moon hike under the Pink Moon will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 25 at Animas City Mountain. The hike is free for members and $10 for nonmembers.
Docent training will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. April 25 or from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27. Trained docents will spend one or two Saturdays of their choice between May and October greeting people at the Welcome Building at the Nature Center in Bondad.

Seniors Outdoors! announces activities
Seniors Outdoors! will host these activities:
Wandering in De-Na-Zin Wilderness in northwest New Mexico will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Participants will explore an area in De-Na-Zin at a moderate pace. Some scrambling is required. Two dogs are welcome, but no water will be available. To RSVP and bring dogs, call Travis Ward at 247-1310.
The Wednesday Wanderers will hike Twin Buttes I at 9 a.m. Wednesday. This will be the first in a series of three hikes in the Twin Buttes area using the newly developed trail system. Each hike will follow a different route. Dogs are OK but must be on leash. Nonmembers must RSVP to Ray Walker at 382-7662.
A backcountry ski in the Red Mountain Pass area will take place at 8 a.m. Thursday. Participants will need climbing skins and the ability to make turns on intermediate terrain. The cost for a carpool is $9. To RSVP, call Darrell Maddox at (303) 775-3208 or email damaddox@elskies.com.
