Durango 4x4 racing team second in endurance race

A mechanical breakdown late in the race cost Durango-based Four Corners 4x4 a victory April 5 in the second round of the Dirt Riot Endurance Racing Southwest Series event at MC Motorsports Park in Tucson, Ariz.

Four Corners 4X4’s 2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ piloted by Jason Kaminsky and Rick Jenkins finished second in the series’ second race of the season.

In Dirt Riot Endurance Racing, teams compete on a 5- to 10-mile-long circuit during an established time limit. Finishing order is determined by the number of laps completed by each competitor within the time limit.

Four Corners 4x4 remains in contention for the series overall title. The team finished second in the series last year. The series’ final event will be held Aug. 16 in Cortez.

Four Corners 4x4 will open defense of its title in the Dirt Riot Mountain Series when that series kicks off Saturday at AreaBFE near Moab, Utah.
