Silverton Mountain announces events
Silverton Mountain will host these events:
Silverton Sister’s Meeting in the Mountains will take place today through Sunday.
Susie Floros, editor and chief of Snowboard Magazine, will share her experiences and advice. Floros is the former Burton Women’s Team manager and has published numerous articles about the ski and snowboard industry.
Also, Cami Garison, director for the Western Winter Sports Representatives Association, will share her insight and experience from working in the industry for more than a decade.
The 13th annual Brewski will take place Sunday. This year’s theme is “Red, White and Brew.” Ski in jeans, bring your American flags and compete in the annual mustache competition.
Unguided skiing will return today, Saturday and Sunday and April 11, 12 and 13. The cost is $49.

Hermosa Creek trout project meeting April 10
An ongoing project to restore native Colorado River cutthroat trout to the Hermosa Creek drainage is continuing this summer.
A public meeting to provide an update about the project is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. April 10 at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Biologists from Parks and Wildlife and the Forest Service will explain the project and answer questions concerning removal of non-native trout, control and removal of beavers and planned stream improvements.

Seniors Outdoors announces events
Seniors Outdoors will host these events:
On Friday, a hike in Sand Canyon is planned along the East Rock Creek Loop to see Ancestral Puebloan sites and arches. Dogs must be on leash. To RSVP, call Betsy Petersen at 259-5417 or email betsyp@bresnan.net.
A car camp in Utah for a Grand Gulch exploration will take place from Sunday to Wednesday. There will be hikes in Bullet Canyon and Government Trail to Perfect Kiva, Jailhouse Ruin and Polly’s Canyon. Dogs are not permitted in Grand Gulch. Four-wheel drive is required. Bike rides around Durango will take place on Mondays. This Monday is considered to be an easy ride of 16 miles. Helmets and gloves are required. For more information, call Jim Newman at 884-7717 or email Newmanji10@aol.com.
The Seniors Outdoors general meeting will take place Tuesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave. The social will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7 p.m. Fort Lewis College professor Andrew Gulliford will do a presentation about rafting the Yampa and Green rivers through Dinosaur National Monument.
The Wednesday Wanderers will hike in Horse Gulch. Dogs must be on leash. Nonmembers should RSVP to Eric Pahlke 247-1130.
The Thursday Durango Area Bike Ride will be a moderate 26-mile round trip beginning at Santa Rita Park. Helmets and gloves are required. For more information, call 884-7717 or email Newmanji10@aol.com.
