Durango Nature Studies announces programs
Durango Nature Studies will offer these programs:
A Mountain Lion Workshop will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 26 at the Durango Nature Center. The cost is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. Former mountain lion technician Laine Johnson will lead the workshop on lion ecology. People will learn about lion natural history, signs, safety and conservation.
The Middle School Environmental Stewardship Camp will take place Monday through July 25. The camp is open to children entering seventh and eighth grades. Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $175 or $200 with transportation. Activities will include team building, environmental stewardship projects, natural science research projects, junior counselor training and program development, hiking and river play. A new moon Astro-Tour will take place at 9 p.m. July 26. The tour is free for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Climbs, hike, bike rides on tap for Seniors Outdoors
Seniors Outdoors will host these events:
A group will depart Saturday for South Colony Lake in the Sangre de Cristos to climb Fourteeners Crestone Peak, Crestone Needle and Humboldt Peak. The routes have class 3 terrain and are suggested for experienced climbers. To RSVP, call Michael Snyder at 403-1042 or email comichael57@gmail.com.
The Monday Durango Area Bike Ride will begin at Home Depot. Helmets and gloves are required. For more information, call Jim Newman at 884-7717 or email Newmanji10@aol.com.
The Wednesday Wanderers will do a moderate seven-mile hike to Hope Lake in the Lizard Head area south of Telluride. Dogs are not allowed. A high-clearance vehicle is necessary for the last three miles to the trailhead. To RSVP, call Tricia Bayless at 799-4535.
